Senior Checks

Life's a Trip's senior checks service (a.k.a. the Senior Watch Program) is designed to offer peace of mind to people who live a distance away from their loved-ones. At your request, and with the other party's permission, we will visit your distant family member on a given day, at a given time and will provide you with a report on their state of well-being.

WE DO NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL ASSESSMENTS but we will work with you to develop an assessment form that allows us to provide objective information which will help you keep a closer eye on the your loved-one's state of wellness. We will send you a written report on their physical appearance, the condition of their home and property, their weight and similar objective details. We will also help you devise questions, the answers to which will give you insight as to how your loved-one is doing.

Our "check-in" service offers you the comfort of knowing that another human being is looking in on your family member. We can make weekly visits, monthly visits or even daily visits. Very importantly we can also check in on your loved-one after a storm or in the case of power loss or loss of phone service.

Post Storm Check-In Service

We are able to check in on your family member after a storm or in the event of a power loss or loss of phone service. We can provide you with a report on your loved one's well-being as well as the information pertaining to any damage to their property which may have been caused by the storm. We can also offer assistance to you and your loved-one in attaining honest and reliable service people to repair any damage caused by the storm. To make use of our post storm check-in service YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER as we need to obtain permission from your loved-one and need to add you to our post storm service plan.

Help in the Home

While the main focus of our check-in service is offer you the peace of mind in knowing that someone is looking in on your loved-one, arrangements can sometimes be made to have our check-in staff run small errands and perform basic household maintenance tasks (ie. changing light-bulbs, shaking out rugs etc.). Whatever your distant family member's needs are, let us know. We may be able to help.

Our Staff

We take the time to get to know our staff and offer employment opportunities only to those individuals who have the maturity, discretion and common sense and past experience necessary in order to provide you with a useful assessment that will help you keep a close eye on the well-being of your loved one. All our staff undergo an involved screening process, have had a recent police clearance, and are trained in first aid and CPR.

Privacy

We respect the privacy of all people. We are only able to offer you a written report pertaining the well-being of your distant family member if they fill out a form giving us permission to do so. Our reports are based on objective information and self reports made by the individual. We respect the privacy of all people and if a senior does not wish to answer questions or participate in any aspect of the check in service, we respect their right to make that decision. In this case, the senior's decision will be clearly stated on your report. We will not intervene on any family matters or provide any services that aren't welcomed by the senior. If you feel your loved one needs more help than they are willing to receive, you will need to contact the proper authorities.
