Dinner on a bridge at sunset

The bridge tunnel is 20 miles long. There are two tunnels, deep enough under the water that cargo ships can sail over the traffic.

CHESAPEAKE BAY, Va. — Montrealers (and New Yorkers) know bridges, and they know tunnels.

Show me the Montrealers who, in the span of 20 minutes, take a bridge, a tunnel, a bridge, a tunnel, stop on the bridge for dinner, then continue on their way.

Those Montrealers are us, and we were on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. The restaurant is just around the corner from the second tunnel and, as we pulled into the parking area, a cargo ship was making its way over the tunnel from which we’d just emerged.

It’s awesome.
